The country of Panama saw their countryman get demolished as Edwin Valero (20-0, 20 KOs) won his first world title in Panama City, Panama.
Valero picking up the WBA super featherweight title in usual Valero style when he pounded Vicente Mosquera (24-2-1, 12 KOs) of Panama. Valero dropped Mosquera twice in the first round, but was dropped himself in the third round when he left himself open and was caught by a big left hook.
After the third, the action continued as Valero began to bust the champion up with hard punches on route to putting him away in the tenth round of the championship bout.
The KO artist has been able to build up an underground army of fans, due to his ability to stop most of his opponents in the first round, and batter any fighter that makes it beyond the first round.
Currently, Valero is still unable to fight in the United States, because of failing a brain scan. It will be interesting if Valero protests the decision, similiar to how heavyweight Joe Mesi protested his fighting ban and was able to regain the ability to fight on U.S. soil.
