Usyk Admits He's Been Studying Joshua For a Long Time

WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has been studying unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua for some time.

Usyk captured Olympic gold at the heavyweight limit in the 2012 London Games. Joshua also won gold, at super heavyweight, in the London Games.

Usyk will go up against Joshua's good friend, Tony Bellew, on November 10 at the Manchester Arena.

Usyk was ringside last month, at Wembley, and watched Joshua retain his WBO, IBO, IBF, WBA titles with a knockout of Alexnader Povetkin of Russia.

"Yes I watched this fight and I really liked it," said Usyk to Sky Sports. "I like how Alexander was set up, it was intriguing, or it was Anthony Joshua's plan - it wasn't a successful plan at the beginning.

"I really liked the atmosphere at Wembley and I would like to box there too."

But it's far from the first time that Usyk studied the bigger man.

"I saw him for the first time at the 2011 World Championship finals against Magomedrasul Majidov. It was a great fight and after this fight I said he is going to be the Olympic champion in London," Usyk said.

"I watched all his fights in London at the Olympic games and of course his professional fights as well. I am interested in him, I mean it is interesting to watch his fights."

Usyk has made it no secret that he intends to move up to the heavyweight division in the near future. Bellew is likely his last fight at cruiserweight.

He would like to fight Joshua by the end of next year - and signed on with Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, to further ensure that the two of them will collide at some point.

'"Do you know I cannot tell you in advance before this fight happens," Usyk said. "When promoters start negotiations between Usyk and Joshua, then I will get ready for that. If you want to make God smile, tell him your plans. Do you understand that my father raised me not to tell what hasn't happened yet."

[QUOTE=kafkod;19238247]Definitely. He's 6'3, 78" inch reach and comes in around 215lbs as a CW. He'll be around 15/20 lbs heavier as a HW. With his speed, movement, skills, stamina, and awkward southpaw style, I think he has a realistic chance…
