Rigondeaux Unable To Get Foe, Interim-Title in Play

Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9KOs) can't catch a break. The WBO/WBA super bantamweight champion has been unable to get the other champions of his division in the ring and now he can't get the top contenders in the rankings to face him.

The WBO had previously ordered Rigondeaux to defend his title against Chris Avalos. The challenger passed on the opportunity, instead choosing to pursue his mandatory shot against IBF champion Carl Frampton.

In order to set an official challenger to Rigondeaux, the WBO is going to put together a fight for the interim-super bantamweight title. After the two challengers are determined, and fight, the winner will then have to face Rigondeaux for the full belt.

It brings a smile to my face when I read these articles. Very happy to see Rigo struggling, he deserves it. That's what he gets for being boring and refusing to change his style for our viewing pleasure. He's too scared to take risks. All he does is wait and counter. Of course, that's what most fighters prefer even in real fights. But this guy just wants to be fed on a silver platter without throwing a bone. Many dumb people don't know how hard it is to be in the offense. Arum gave him Agbeko thinking that the boring Rigo would come out of his shell and execute an entertaining fight. Man, he stinked up the place and made people exit the doors. And when he tried to chase Agbeko he still won't throw any punches unless Agbeko does. What a scared idiot. Just imagine a fighter going after his opponent and still in the countering mode. What a... I love this because more networks and promoters will follow suit. We viewers do not want to get bored when we turn on their network, or we switch the channel and stop watching/supporting. Cowards / runners / boring fighters will not be supported by our sport.

Rigo doesnt run, his opponents do once they feel his power and realize that they are in over their heads skill wise 9 ko's. The man is a monster.

Rigo is a bad man. Nobody wants any, from Macau to a pier in Belfast, NOBODY! I have to agree with my Cuban brothers on this one. Rigo has them scared for thier zeros.

I thought wbo didn't believe in interim titles. I thought the WBO had the most titles out of all the sanctioning bodies.
