Tyrone McCullagh claimed a title and put himself in line to fight for the British belt. The Derry super-bantamweight, who is trained by Derry Mathews and George Vaughan in Liverpool, was dropped in the third round of his fight against Joe Ham. McCullagh, however, got up and outboxed the Scot over 10 scheduled rounds at the SSE Arena in Belfast.
Double Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and 2016 Olympian Steven Donnelly has turned professional with MTK Global. The 29-year-old from Ballymena was third in the 2014 and 2018 Games at welterweight and middleweight respectively and will begin his career in the paid ranks at 154lbs.

Josh Wale has had his next fight confirmed. The Barnsley bantamweight, who was most recently in action earlier this month, will defend his British crown against the mandatory challenger Ukashir Farooq. Stefy Bull, Wale’s promoter, will stage the fight –– the third defence for Wale, who will get the belt for keeps with a win –– on April 13 at Doncaster Dome.
Reigning IBO light heavyweight champion Igor Mikhalkin (21 fights, 20 wins, 9 KOs, 1 defeat) retained his title against Doudou Ngumbu (35 fights, 31 wins, 14 knockouts, 4 defeats) last night. Mikhalkin dominated the fight at all times and won in the end clearly with scores of 117-111 and two times 116-112.
Derry super-bantamweight Tyrone McCullagh jumped to 9-0 with an impressive stoppage victory over previously-undefeated German Tom Tran in Belfast on Friday night. Headlining Ginley Promotions’ ‘Danger at the Devenish 2’ fight night at the Devenish Complex, former European amateur medallist McCullagh was putting his own unbeaten record on the line in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.
