Tom Doran, 21, posted a points win over Craig Tooms in Saint Helens last Saturday; it was Doran's second win in a row and the 60-53 victory prompted trainer Shane Thomas to wax lyrical about the man from Wales; Thomas told The Flintshire Chronicle that his charge can go far in the domestic game.

“I haven’t been telling Tom to go out there and knock people out because I want him to get rounds under his belt.  It is the only way he will learn the skills you need for later rounds,” stressed Thomas.  “But he did well. He was in control all the way through and in the fifth the judges scored him 10-8 so that tells you all you need to know.

“We are having trouble matching him up as fighters are beginning to avoid him,” continued Shane.  “People really sat up and took notice when he dismantled Alex Spitko two fights ago.  They see what he can do and they don’t want their fighters to be on the end of it.”

Doran can now relax ahead of the upcoming domestic season, the fighter is 2-0 (0), the win over Spitko was particularly impressive, Alex loses often, but he is rarely so thoroughly dominated.  Doran could be one to watch in 2010.
