Thomas Dulorme: record, next fight and profile →
The sites are set for Premier Boxing Champions’ cards early in August. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Showtime’s telecast August 1 will air from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Showtime will televise numerous “Showtime Championship Boxing” cards from Mohegan Sun over the subsequent several months.
Thomas Dulorme and Jamal James will have to wait two more weeks to finally fight. Their welterweight title bout, which had already been postponed from April 11 to July 25 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been pushed back two additional weeks. Dulorme and James will now headline a “FOX PBC Fight Night” broadcast August 8.
Premier Boxing Champions will return to FOX on July 25 with a main event that was postponed at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. BoxingScene.com has learned that welterweights Thomas Dulorme and Jamal James will meet that night in a 12-round fight for a vacant version of the WBA welterweight title. FOX is expected to televise the Dulorme-James match from a studio setting in the Los Angeles area, though the site hadn’t been solidified as of Friday.
Thomas Dulorme was supposed to spend this week completing preparation for his fight against Jamal James. Dulorme was scheduled to meet James on Saturday night in Minneapolis for the WBA interim welterweight title. FOX planned to air the James-Dulorme match as the main event of a tripleheader from The Armory, where James has won four straight fights over the past two years in his hometown.
Thomas Dulorme’s loss to Yordenis Ugas still doesn’t sit well with the welterweight contender 2½ years later. Dulorme “would love a rematch,” a fight that might become more attractive to Ugas if Dulorme defeats Jamal James in their WBA interim welterweight title fight. Puerto Rico’s Dulorme (25-3-1, 16 KOs) and James (26-1, 12 KOs) were supposed to fight Saturday night in the main event of a FOX tripleheader from The Armory in Minneapolis, James’ hometown.
The next televised boxing card scheduled to take place in the state of Minnesota will not happen amid the coronavirus pandemic. BoxingScene.com learned Monday that Premier Boxing Champions has indefinitely postponed its card scheduled for April 11 at The Armory in Minneapolis. FOX was scheduled to televise three fights from that PBC show, which was to feature welterweights Jamal James and Thomas Dulorme in the 12-round main event.
Top welterweight and Minneapolis native Jamal "Shango" James will face former title challenger Thomas Dulorme for the Interim WBA Welterweight Title in the FOX PBC Fight Night main event and on FOX Deportes Saturday, April 11 as James returns to The Armory in Minneapolis for his fifth-straight fight.
For the first time in nearly 40 years, two world boxing titles will be decided on one Minnesota card as Minneapolis boxers Jamal “Shango” James and David Morrell Jr. vie for championship honors in separate fights.
Jamal James’ fifth straight fight in his hometown will be more meaningful than the previous four. BoxingScene.com has learned that James will battle Thomas Dulorme for the WBA’s interim welterweight title April 11 at The Armory in Minneapolis. James has won four fights in a row at The Armory dating back to April 2018.
Now that Thomas Dulorme has ended a long layoff and defeated a previously unbeaten opponent, he wants a much bigger fight later this year. The veteran welterweight contender has targeted Mikey Garcia, who is open to remaining in the 147-pound division if he can be matched against “the right guy.” Puerto Rico’s Dulorme might fit that description for Garcia because he is credible, but not nearly as accomplished or dangerous as Errol Spence Jr.
