Welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (24-3) will end a 14-month layoff when he faces former two-division champion Jessie Vargas (28-2-1) in the main event of DAZN's inaugural fight card staged in the United States.
He last fought on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor undercard when he lost a razor thin decision to Yordenis Ugas. Dulorme was deducted two points for low blows which provided the margin of victory.
DAZN became available in the United States last month with Anthony Joshua's knockout win over Alexander Povetkin in the United Kingdom serving as their first foray into the highly competitive American boxing market.
All of the cards in the United States will be promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing USA and Dulorme was very impressed with the streaming service's first offering.
“I thought the production was excellent. I really liked it,” said Dulorme before commenting on his preparation for the fight.
“I had a great camp. Everything went according to plan. We didn’t have any problems. We are good on weight and ready for the fight.”
As of this writing Vargas was a 4-1 favorite to win the fight but those odds don't worry the 28-year-old Dulorme. His trainer Joel Diaz has experience going up against Vargas, having been in Tim Bradley's corner for his unanimous decision victory over Vargas in 2015.
"Joel Diaz is a great trainer and has a great game plan. The odds don't matter. They will be in for a surprise. I am ready to go and will win this fight," Dulorme told BoxingScene.com.
The fight takes place at the WinTrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Dulorme believes both fighters will have plenty of crowd support with Chicago having big Puerto Rican and Mexican populations.
“It will be an amazing fight and a great crowd. We both will have lot of fans. I want to tell all the fans not to miss this fight,” said Dulorme.
