New York - After his victory last Saturday night, Teofimo Lopez (13-0, 11 KO’s) made it clear to all the media and his handlers, he wants WBC, WBA lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko(13-1, 10 KO’s) next.

Whether or not that can happen remains to be seen. Lopez wants to come back in July while Lomachenko is slated to come back in September because of a hand injury suffered in his last fight.

Lopez is willing to go another route if necessary.

“They think that Teofimo needs more fights to make that thing bigger with Loma(chenko) but I don’t,” Lopez stated. “We’re looking for the IBF for Richard Commey. This weight is really annoying. I don’t think I can make the weight for December. I’ll tell Lomachenko lets do July. We can make the fight happen now but they don’t want to fight now.”

Lopez feels like it wasn’t his best performance but he still got the victory. Aside from Commey, he said he’s willing to fight for the WBC lightweight title, which was recently vacated by Mikey Garcia.

“July could be me and Richard Commey [and] if not we go for the WBC because I don’t think Mikey’s going to want to come back 135,” explained Lopez. “Richard Commey lets make the fight happen, you’re going to get paid. But I think Commey wants Lomachenko before me.”

A move to 140 pounds seems imminent. They are a plethora of options should he make the move within his stable, particularly WBC 140 pound champion Jose Ramirez. But before that, Lopez wants a title at 135.

“WBC wants Teofimo to represent their belts so the fight with Ramirez is possible but I want to collect something at 135 because I been here for 5 to 6 years.” stated Lopez.

Lopez said it will be hard to stay at 135, but may wait until as long as December for the fight.

“I want Loma now, I’ll wait for December and I’ll try my best - but it’s up to my body," Lopez said.
