On Wednesday Top Rank Inc. announced that the Eleider Alvarez-Sergey Kovalev rematch would actually be a quadrupleheader.

It stated that on ESPN, WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez will face Carmine Tommasone with Richard Commey battling Isa Chaniev for the vacant IBF lightweight title in the co-feature bout.

Afterwards the action moves to the ESPN+ app where WBO light heavyweight champion Eleider Alvarez will face Sergey Kovalev in a sequel of their August 4th bout with rising lightweight prospect Teofimo Lopez facing a fighter to be named announced in the co-feature bout.

BoxingScene.com has learned that the TBA fighter will be two-time title challenger Diego Magdaleno (31-2).  Both Lopez and Magdaleno live in Las Vegas and know each other very well.

"I have seen him around many times and know what he is about. Experience is key in this fight and a victory will take me to my world title shot," Magdaleno told BoxingScene.com. "Quote me. The third time will be the charm for the fighter that never quit and made his dream come true."

Lopez last fought on December 8th when he knocked out veteran puncher Mason Mendard in just 44 seconds.  That was his first fight since undergoing surgery on his right hand over the summer.  For the year Lopez went 4-0 with 3 knockouts.

Magdaleno went 2-0 in 2018 after sitting out all of 2017 and has won 3 bouts in a row since losing to Terry Flanagan in 2015.
