Earlier today Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted that his fighter Kell Brook had signed his contract for a summer showdown against IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter.
According to Hearn, they are just waiting on Golden Boy Promotions to announce the date the fight will take place. August 9th was the date originally targeted with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY hosting the fight.
That date is now off the table for the fight and Porter's father and trainer isn't so sure that Brook has actually signed his contract and believes that the lack of a signed contract is the reason they were bumped from the date.
"Good morning Ryan. I read a tweet about Brook but I believe he is stalling. I don't believe he wants this fight. Eddie Hearn's twitter says he signed, but to confirm we have not received a signed contract. I believe that is why we have been pulled from the Barclays show. I don't think they wanted to take a chance with the date being 8 weeks away," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
