Earlier today it was announced that former champions Amir Khan and Devon Alexander will collide on December 13th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The bout will headline a Showtime televised tripleheader that will also feature Demetrius Andrade defending his WBO junior middleweight title against Jermell Charlo and Keith Thurman defending his interim WBA welterweight title against Leonard Bundu.

Alexander pushed for a fight against Khan last year and they were close to facing each other in December at the Barclays Center but Khan decided at the last minute to sit out when he thought a May, 2014 showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr. was inevitable. The Mayweather-Khan fight didn't come to fruition but the the winner of this fight will definitely be in the running to face Mayweather next year.

Alexander's manager and trainer Kevin Cunningham believes the fight will produce fireworks and said that he has noticed a lot of improvement in Khan since he started working with Virgil Hunter.

"Alexander-Khan is a great match up. I think Khan has improved tremendously since hooking up with Virgil Hunter. I also think that the winner of this fight deserves a shot at Mayweather or Pacquiao," said Cunningham.

Khan has fought in Las Vegas four times in his career while this will be Alexander's first time fighting in the boxing capital of the world. Cunningham said that Alexander is very excited at the prospect of headlining in Sin City assuming that Khan signs his contract.

"Devon's extremely excited to headline a big Vegas card if it happens," Cunningham told BoxinngScene.com.
