Although he concedes that Jorge “Travieso” Arce, the No.1 ranked WBO super bantamweight is a true Mexican warrior in the ring, World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman believes Arce has no chance to beat Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire in their planned October title fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Sulaiman told the Manila Standard that he thinks Arce “will be an easy target for Donaire” claiming that the Mexican is “old and slow” but concedes that Arce “throws punches every fraction of a second when he is allowed to do so.”

From his perspective Don Jose said “Arce has absolutely no chance to bat Donaire” who is the current WBO and IBF 122 pound champion having added the IBF title to his four division championship belts with a comfortable twelve round unanimous decision over South Africa’s IBF champion Jeffrey Mathebula at the Home Depot Center in Carson City last July 7.

Meantime, Mathebula’s promoter Branco Milenkovic says his fighter will undergo surgery for a broken jaw which Mathebula said happened in the 7th round of the unification title fight against Donaire.

Durandt claimed that Mathebula “only started feeling it in the 11th round and I think that’s why he went into protective mode and just tried to keep his hands up over his jaw” in the face of an aggressive by Donaire in the last two rounds,

Durandt said “I don’t know how the ringside doctor missed it. It’s been confirmed that he broke his jaw and he will have surgery in the next day or two. This just makes Jeffrey’s performance even better. He was very brave and he showed a lot of heart,” praising his fighter for staying there for all 12 rounds.
