Subriel Matias vs. Breidis Prescott Set For August 18

By Fernando Gaztambide

Subriel Matias is heading towards another challenge in his young career, when he measures himself against dangerous Colombian puncher Breidis Prescott, in a fight agreed upon for ten rounds at the maximum weight of 141 pounds, as part of an event taking place on August 18, from the Tomás Dones de Fajardo Coliseum in Puerto Rico.

After announcing the combats between the Dominican Alfredo 'Ojo' Santiago (9-0, 2 KOs) against the Argentine Cristian Miño (19-1, 17 KOs) at 135 pounds and the duel of undefeated Puerto Ricans between Abimael Ortiz (5- 0-1, 3 KOs) and ex London Olympian 2012 Jantony Ortíz (8-0, 4 KOs) at 122 pounds, promoter Juan Orengo of Fresh Productions Boxing has confirmed the fight of the Puerto Rican super prospect.

"Subriel will face Breidis Prescott, the Colombian is a tough opponent who has only been beaten by quality fighters at 140 and mostly at 147. If you are not of quality, he will knock you out like he did Amir Khan and he went the distance with Terence Crawford. Last year I saw a fight between him and Ray Robinson and Prescott looked good. He started a bit cold, but he warmed up and I would tell you that he had evened up the fight, but he could not continue due to an accidental headbutt," said Juan Orengo.

Matias (10-0, 10 KOs) against Breidis Prescott (31-13, 22 KOs) will be part of the poster called 'I'll A Mi', which will have a total of 8 fights.

"I think it is another great test that we will be taking and I hope to God that I'll be able to meet the expectations of the public since they are the ones that really motivate me to want to be somebody better every day. Prescott has natural strength because he has fought a lot at 147 pounds and expect a big fight with me at the maximum weight of 141 pounds. It will be an interesting fight," said Subriel Matias.

Matías, from the Maternillo neighborhood, has convincing victories by way of the knockout over the former world contender Daulis Prescott of Colombia, the former Venezuelan Olympian Patrick Lopez, rising prospect Jeffrey Fontánez of Puerto Rico, the strong Brazilian puncher Joaquim Carneiro and in his last presentation in the month of June, he won by technical knockout in the fourth round against the Mexican Adrián Estrella (28-1, 24 KOs).

Prescott is a worn out old bag that needs to retire. "Dangerous"??? Exactly what decade recently was he dangerous??? Hell, he was done in by a young Alvarado who is now shot himself which tells you how shot Prescott is.

I like these fights for Browny as he progresses, but they need to get the kid a world class experienced trainer like Abel Sanchez or something. Get the kid to sign with Eddie Hearn too. Lol
