With this Saturday’s British super-middleweight title showdown between Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding taking centre stage in the UK a question mark has been placed on Fielding’s mental strength by Smith’s trainer, Joe Gallagher.
Rocky Fielding believes he has the power to KO Callum Smith when the two unbeaten Super Middleweights clash for the British title at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on November 21, live on Sky Sports. Fielding and Smith have an even share of 24 KOs in the paid ranks, but Rocky believes that Smith has struggled to put away two of his tougher opponents in Nikola Sjekloca and Christopher Rebrasse, and that if he connects with Smith’s chin, the first defeat ‘Mundo’ suffers in the pros will be via KO.
Rocky Fielding believes his punching power will prove key when he takes on Callum Smith for the vacant British supper-middleweight title. The Liverpool rivals clash on November 7 with Fielding unbeaten on 21-0-KO12 and Smith not far behind on 17-0-KO12 - and Fielding is relishing the chance to prove his supremacy.
Rocky Fielding has dubbed Callum Smith 'overhyped' ahead of their British super-middleweight clash in Liverpool on November 7. The Liverpudlians face off at the Echo Arena for the Lonsdale Belt plus the chance of shot at the WBC world title and Fielding, who like Smith is unbeaten, is happy to be seen as the underdog. The 28-year-old (21-0 12KOs) is expecting a sell-out crowd in their hometown and is predicting a stoppage victory.
The BBBoC today announced that heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte will vie for the vacant British title after an agreement was reached between the two London-based boxers. The contest will be promoted by Eddie Hearn, with date and venue TBA. The Board also released details of some other British title bouts. Rocky Fielding and Callum Smith will fight for the 168lb crown on September 26, the show will be promoted by Eddie Hearn with the venue to be confirmed.
