On December 21, another local clashe will have a semi-major title at stake in what shall be a solid closure for a doomed year. The Siberian Express, also known as Evgeny Shvedenko (14-0, 6 KOs) is set to fight durable and relatively hard-hitting Artur Osipov (16-2-1, 11 KOs) for a vacant WBC International super middleweight title.
The fight will take place at the AZIMUT Hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia, which is one of the hottest spots during the second phase of the ongoing pandemics. The fight will be co-promoted by YUKA Promotions (Zyaki Yunisov) and Fächer Sportmanagement (Maxim Mikhayliov).
IBF #6 Shvedenko, 30, from a Far Eastern island of Sakhalin has built up his pro career mostly in Germany, despite winning Russian national title in process. His best wins are unanimous decision over former world-title challenger Nadjib Mokhammedi, Nuhu Lawal and Roman Shkarupa. He has won his last five fights on points.
Big puncher Osipov, 31, previously held Russian middleweight title but ran into more skilled opponents in 2019, losing on points to Evgueny Terentyev and Meiirim Nursultanov. In his most recent outing, Osipov, who is moving up in weight, for the fight versus Shvedenko, scored and upset draw against 14-0-1 and WBA #2 middleweight Magomed Madiev.
Edgar Moskvichev (10-1-2, 4 KOs) takes on once-defeated Orest Saakyan (5-1, 4 KOs) in the top supportive bout of the show, which will be aired live by the MatchTV and Match.Boets TV channels.
