Former undisputed (WBA/WBC/IBF) light welterweight king and IBHOF entrée Kostya Tszyu commented on possibility of a proposed clash between WBO light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KOs) and Filipino icon and WBO welterweight king Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KOs) to the ITAR-TASS media agency.

“To be honest with you, I can’t see this clash happening”, said Tszyu. “Manny employed Ruslan as his sparring partner. Provodnikov is a great boxer with great skills, and he is a champion, but he hasn’t been fighting on that level for that long. It’s too early to comment though. Pacquiao is a legend, and surely he is not afraid of Ruslan."

Top Rank, who promote Pacquiao, have named Provodnikov as a backup option if Juan Manuel Marquez rejects a fifth fight with the Filipino champion.
