LAS VEGAS – Sebastian Fundora amazingly made the 154-pound limit with ease yet again Friday afternoon. The 6-foot-6 Fundora, absurdly tall for the junior middleweight division, stepped on the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s scale at 152.8 pounds at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. A significantly shorter Erickson Lubin, who stands 5-foot-9½, officially weighed in at 153.2 pounds for their 12-round fight Saturday night for the WBC interim super welterweight title.
Sergio Garcia gave himself much more credit than two judges afforded him for the work he feels he put in during his last fight. The Spanish junior middleweight contender considers his 12-round WBC elimination match with Sebastian Fundora to have been a close fight. California-based judges Lou Moret (118-110) and Alejandro Rochin (117-111) scored 10 and nine rounds, respectively, for Fundora in a fight that appeared much more competitive than that.
LAS VEGAS – Tony Harrison smiled Thursday the first time Luis Arias yelled from the audience about his knockout defeat to Jermell Charlo in their rematch. That led to them trading insults during a press conference to promote Showtime’s tripleheader Saturday night at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Arias claimed Harrison ducked a fight against him. Harrison mocked Arias for having the audacity to call him out after his upset defeat to Vaughn Alexander on December 5 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions announced a much-discussed spring and early-summer schedule Tuesday. The loaded slate of fights includes seven PBC cards that’ll air live on Showtime and two Showtime Pay-Per-View events, which will feature Errol Spence Jr. and Gervonta “Tank” Davis. From March 26 through July 9, the PBC/Showtime schedule will be highlighted by seven world championship matches, including two title unification fights, and three title eliminators.
Victor Iglesias, the trainer for junior middleweight contender Sergio Garcia, is preparing his pupil for a much better 2022. Earlier this month, Garcia suffered the first defeat of his pro career when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Sebastain Fundora in a WBC eliminator.

LOS ANGELES – With Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony and Kawhi Leonard seated ringside, the boxer whose body type most resembles that of an NBA player didn’t deliver the knockout they wanted.
