Rabchenko is Fully Focused With Hatton in His Corner

Sergey Rabchenko will not be distracted by talk of a world title fight as he prepares to defend his European title against Adriano Nicchi on 30 March. The Belarusian makes the second defence of his light-middleweight belt against the Italian at the Salle des Etoiles venue in Monte Carlo. WBC president Jose Sulaiman has hinted that Rabchenko could face Erislandy Lara in a final eliminator with the winner set for a showdown with world champion Saul Alvarez later in the year.

Liverpudlian Bellew recently became the WBC's number one contender ahead of his final eliminator against fellow hopeful Isaac Chilemba next month. Victory over Chilemba will rubber-stamp his position as mandatory challenger for Dawson's prestigious green belt. He was then set to wait for the outcome of the American champion's next fight, against Canadian Jean Pascal on May 25, before beginning negotiations. However, Pascal is set to pull out of the title challenge in favour of a lucrative scrap with fellow Canadian favourite Lucian Bute.

Sergey Rabchenko is quickly closing in on a world title shot, but cannot afford to overlook his next task according to trainer Ricky Hatton. The unbeaten Belarusian, 26, will make the second defence of his European light-middleweight crown against Italian champion Adriano Nicchi in Monte Carlo on March 30. And the Hitman believes it's a challenge his charge has to be fully focused on or a potential showdown with WBC kingpin Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez can be kissed goodbye. "Sergey can see that world title on the horizon now, but isn't ready just yet so needs to continue to impress again in Monaco," Hatton said.

Manchester Arena, Manchester - Gary Buckland (27-2, 9KOs) retained his title with an eight round stoppage over Stephen Foster (30-4-1, 18KOs) to retain the British super featherweight title. It was a very competitve fight, but a clash of heads in the round six opened up a nasty cut on the forehead of Foster. Foster's corner stopped the match before the start of the ninth round.

Rabchenko is preparing for the mandatory defense of his European title against French boxer Cedric “Titi” Vitu (35-1, 15KOs). The fight takes place on the 24th of November at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Hatton returns in the main event, in his first fight since 2009, against former welterweight champ Vyacheslav Senchenko.
