“Mini-Tyson” Selcuk Aydin beat South African Lucky Lewele in his hometown Trabzon by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC international welterweight championship. Aydin dominated the fight most of the time but former title holder Lewele kept on fighting back and always stayed dangerous. In the end the judges scored the bout 119:109, 118:109 and 118:110 in favour of “the Thunderstorm from the Black Sea”.

“It was a great fight”, stated promoter Ahmet Öner. “Selcuk showed great effort and proved that he has character. Lewele was strong as well but Selcuk showed that he got what it takes to make it to the top.”

Olympic gold medallist Odlanier Solis impressed the Turkish crowd with a 2nd round ko-victory over previously unbeaten Georgian Mamuka Jikurashvili (20-0, 14 kos). Solis knocked down his opponent with a devastating body shot in the 1st and finished him off with two more hard shots to the body early in the 2nd.

“Solis simply overwhelmed his opponent”, stated Öner. “This is exactly like I want to see him: a mean machine full of power and speed. When he comes forward like this nobody in the world can stop him.”

Middleweight prospect Mahir Oral stopped his opponent Joel Mayo in the 2nd.  So did Olympic silver medallist Atagün Yalcinkaya with his opponent Ravil Mukhamadiarov. Unbeaten heavyweight Yakup Saglam won the international German championship (interim) by stopping Sergei Babich. The Ukrainian didn’t return to the fifth round due to a bad cut under the left eye.

Konstantin Airich and Tino Groß won their fights against Andreyi Oleyinik and Tolgat Dosanov by unanimous decisions.
