Nicola Adams has been given a return date.

The former two-time Olympic champion has an unblemished ledger of three from three since transitioning to the paid code from the amateur ranks 12 months ago.

Adams, 35, has not fought since December when she stopped Soledad Macedo inside the distance in Montreal.

But ‘The Lioness’ will be back on May 19, exclusively live on BT Sport and BoxNation, on a world title fight undercard.

She has been confirmed as an addition to the supporting cast to Lee Selby’s IBF featherweight world title defence against Josh Warrington, the hometown hero, at Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium.

Her fight will be over 10 rounds of the two-minute duration, standard in women's boxing, which hints that she could be in a title fight of some description.

“This is going to be a huge event for the city of Leeds and all of Yorkshire and I’m delighted to be a part of it,” said Adams when the news was revealed. “The atmosphere when I fought at the First Direct Arena [in Leeds, back in May 2017] was deafening and it will be ten-times louder when I step into the ring at Elland Road. There is no better feeling than fighting in front of your home crowd.

“My aim is to be fighting for a world title of my own as soon as I can and to achieve that in my home city would be a dream come true. I’m constantly learning and developing and I hope it won’t be long before I’m knocking on the door for a shot at a title.”

Meanwhile, Boxing Scene understands that, along with Adams and the already announced pair of Jordan Thompson and Lyon Woodstock, there is expected to be action on the card for Nathan Gorman, British super-lightweight champion Jack Catterall, as well as Danny Wright, Reece Mould and Darren Tetley.

Former Team GB starlet Jack Bateson and undefeated featherweight Jack Daniel will also feature.
