Savannah Marshall: record, next fight and profile →
Repeat or revenge? All or nothing? A blockbuster night of box office boxing is locked in at AO Arena Manchester on Saturday, June 17 as Liam Smith faces Chris Eubank Jr in a high stakes rematch and Undisputed Super-Middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn puts all her gold on the line against Savannah Marshall.
Shadasia Green will have to wait at least one more fight to challenge for the undisputed crown. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBC has recalled its previous order for Green to next face fully unified super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn. The ruling comes with the acknowledgment of another fight already in place, as Crews-Dezurn will instead defend versus England’s Savannah Marshall (12-1, 10KOs), a hard-hitting former WBO middleweight titlist who will move up in weight.
Promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer has indicated that undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields will not face Savannah Marshall or Natasha Jonas in her next fight.
Former middleweight champion Savannah Marshall is hoping to position herself for a big fight in the coming months. Marshall suffered the first defeat of her career last October, when she dropped a ten round unanimous decision in her undisputed middleweight title fight with career rival Claressa Shields.
Savannah Marshall sent an emphatic reminder to her decade-long rival who was seated ringside. A superfight with Claressa Shields waited in the balance, with boxers afforded separate title defenses before their head-on collision. Shields held up her end, dominating unbeaten Ema Kozin over ten rounds to defend her lineal/WBC/WBA/IBF middleweight championship while running her record to 12-0 (2KOs).
Back in October, Claressa Shields traveled over to the UK and put on a career-defining performance in her ten round unanimous decision win over Savannah Marshall in their undisputed middleweight showdown.
Claressa Shields is prepared to run it back with Savannah Marshall, though with some say on who gets to host the sequel. England’s Marshall confirmed to Sky Sports that she has activated a rematch clause. The move was executed two months after their memorable October 15 undisputed middleweight championship clash won by Shields via unanimous decision at The O2 in London.
Claressa Shields intends to drop down to the junior middleweight limit again now that she has been crowned women’s boxing’s undisputed middleweight champion for the second time.
Claressa Shields doesn’t think she necessarily needs to fight Savannah Marshall again. Shields feels her unanimous points victory over Marshall on October 15 in London was decisive. Even Marshall acknowledged that Shields was the rightful winner of their 10-round middleweight championship match at a sold-out O2 Arena.

Last month in London, Shields handed Marshall her first career defeat. Shields boxed and fought her way to a ten round unanimous decision to become the undisputed champion at middleweight for the second time.
