Savannah Marshall: record, next fight and profile →
WBC, IBF, WBA middleweight champion Claressa Shields is not interested in hearing any excuses in the aftermath of her planned unification with career rival Savannah Marshall, who holds the WBO strap.
Savannah Marshall picked up another dramatic knockout win as she retained her WBO middleweight title against Femke Hermans. Marshall put her belt on the line for the third time against Hermans at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
By Corey Erdman - The story of Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields has been framed in many different ways. A tale of a fighter, Shields, looking to avenge her last loss in any form of boxing from 2012. A tale of a fighter in Marshall seeking her just due, her opportunity to prove that she is the kryptonite to women’s boxing’s Superwoman. But a forgotten aspect of the long, testy feud between Marshall and Shields is that the last two times they could have fought in the amateurs, Marshall lost before they could meet in the tournament finals.

By Ron Lewis - Savannah Marshall scored the biggest knockout of her career as she pole-axed Femke Hermans in the third round in Newcastle to retain her WBO middleweight title and finally set up her clash with Claressa Shields.
Savannah Marshall thinks Claressa Shields promises too much, delivers too little. Marshall, the WBO women’s middleweight titlist from Newcastle, England, has been on a collision course with Flint, Michigan’s Shields, who holds the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles, for the past couple of years.
Savannah Marshall believes that her WBO middleweight title defence against Femke Hermans this weekend will serve as the final roadblock before a summer showdown with Claressa Shields.
