Promoter Nisse Sauerland has made it clear he plans to ‘fast track’ recent Wasserman Boxing signing Dan Toward.

Toward (3-0, 2 KOs) continued his march into the professional ranks with a knockout victory over Greenland’s Frank Madsen on the undercard of the EBU title fight between Abass Baraou and Sam Eggington in Telford last Friday.

He signed pro terms with Sauerland’s Wasserman Boxing in 2023 following an impressive amateur career, winning 10 English national titles and representing Team Great Britain, amassing an impressive record of 84 fights, 72 of them being victories.

“I’m excited about our stable at the moment,” Nisse Sauerland said exclusively to boxingscene.com. “Dan Toward was great tonight. He is a light middleweight with Abass [Baraou] and Josh Kelly. He is the type of guy that we can fast track, I’m not saying he is ready for those fights just yet, but he has a big future ahead of him. He’s a fantastic talent.”

The 22 year old, fighting out of Birtley in the North East of England, began his professional career with a stoppage victory in Bolton in December, and then supported Josh Kelly in Sunderland two weeks later following his Wasserman debut.

Wasserman have planted their flag firmly into British boxing’s small-hall scene while providing broadcasters Channel 5 and DAZN with national and European title fights. Toward’s victory over Madsen marked his third consecutive appearance on the latest UK focused  Wasserman schedule.

“I would rather go to the Telford International Centre with 1,000 people turning up rather than going to Wembley Arena with 1,000 people turning up and 8,000 empty seats,” Sauerland continued.

“A lot of people are following suit [in the UK], not because boxing isn’t popular, we will get a couple of million viewers, but it is just the fact that people are broke at the moment. Inflation is hopefully calming down a bit, let’s see, but it is important to keep the sport going regardless and travel all over the country with it. We will be at York Hall next on April 12. [We will] have some interesting news regarding a former world champion being on that card.”
