Sakio Bika came out of retirement to settle the score with his oldest ring rival. The former super middleweight titlist dominated countryman Sam Soliman en route to a lopsided eight-round unanimous decision win. Scores were 80-73, 79-73 and 78-74 in favor of Bika in their trilogy fight Wednesday evening at Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Newcastle, Australia.
Dennis Hogan will apparently be a game time decision on Wednesday. For now, the former two-division title challenger remains on course for his highly anticipated showdown with unbeaten contender Tim Tszyu. Both boxers made weight for their crossroads bout, which airs live on Australia Main Event Pay-Per-View from Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Newcastle, Australia.
Former two-division world champion Nigel Benn will not return to the ring as planned, as a training injury has forced him to cancel his feared ring return on November 23 in Birmingham. Benn, at 55-years-old, was scheduled to face Sakio Bika, despite the mountain of calls to stay retired.
Nigel Benn says that he will retire for good whatever the result of his comeback fight in November whatever the result, saying his fight with Sakio Bika is a one-off to give him closure, not because he needs the money. The 55-year-old former WBO middleweight and WBC super-middleweight champion has not boxed since 1996, but he will make his return to the ring on November 23 in Birmingham against Bika, who won the WBC super-middleweight title 17 years after Benn lost it.
It’s official, former WBC & WBO World Champion Nigel Benn will return to the ring one last time for CLOSURE. The event will be held on the 23rd November 2019 at Resorts World Arena, located in the National Exhibition Centre, Perimeter Rd, Birmingham, England.
