Ryan Garcia has grown accustomed to hearing the bombastic warnings of detractors.

For a number of years now, the California native has promised to end the career of Gervonta Davis. Of course, despite displaying lightning-quick hand speed, pernicious knockout power, and underrated overall skills, team Davis dared Garcia to put his money where his mouth is.

Currently, after hammering out a deal, the two are simply crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s as negotiations inch closer to the finish line. Presently, unless an unexpected snafu occurs, the pair will lock horns on April 15th, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at a catchweight of 136 pounds.

A persistent theme since the news of their impending showdown has been that Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) and his highlight-reel-worthy finishes, will eventually put Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) out of his misery. Vasiliy Lomachenko, a former unified titlist at 135 pounds and multi-divisional champion, also agreed with that notion.

“I think Davis will finish him,” said Lomachenko to FightHype.com recently when asked how he envisions Garcia vs. Davis playing out in his mind. “I think so.”

Lomachenko’s conjecture wasn’t exactly appreciated by Garcia. Although the flamboyant star is focusing on upsetting the apple cart, he did reveal that once he takes care of business on the 15th of April, Lomachenko could become his next victim.

“So when I’m done with Gervonta how about I break this robot,” said Garcia to Lomachenko on his social media account.

Although the Ukrainian would seemingly jump at the opportunity to face Garcia, he has his own pressing matters to attend to. With all signs pointing to Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) taking on the lightweight division's undisputed champion in Devin Haney, the former two-time Olympic gold medalist, if successful, could be forced to face off against another young luminary in Shakur Stevenson.
