Ruiz: I Wanted To Silence Critics Who Said This Chubby Guy Can't!

By Rafael Soto

Andy "Destroyer" Ruiz, the current world heavyweight champion of the World Boxing Organization, the International Boxing Federation, the International Boxing Organization and the World Boxing Association, received a great reception from the media and fans on Tuesday afternoon at the TV Azteca facilities south of Mexico City.

"One thing, I wanted to silence the mouths of everyone who said that chubby guy will not do anything, but thank God that we achieved all of our dreams, many told me that I was not going to achieve this, that I was not going to be able to with an opponent like him (Anthony Joshua), but at that moment I achieved all my dreams, I asked God to help me to achieve it and in that moment I grasped my dreams," explains Ruiz.

"This was thanks to the effort of my father who always took care of me... all those times when I took some bad steps. I told him that sooner or later I was going to be able to pay him back for all that, that things were going to change, that night was a lot of joy."

"We are very proud of you, that you visit us in this house, that you are an example for all Mexicans because what this country needs most is hope, and you are a pleasure for all of us for what you have achieved," said Benjamín Salinas, CEO of TV Azteca.
