Roiman Villa: record, next fight and profile →
ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – After what Sampson Lewkowicz witnessed Saturday night, he is more convinced than ever that there isn’t a welterweight in the world who can beat Jaron Ennis. Roiman Villa’s promoter predicted that neither Errol Spence Jr. nor Terence Crawford will face Ennis for that very reason.
On July 29th, a fight some five years in the making will clear up the question of just who has been the best welterweight in the world in the post-Floyd Mayweather era. The fighter who will replace the winner of Errol Spence-Terence Crawford atop the welterweight division may have spoken violently on Saturday night.
ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – It appears as though another undefeated welterweight knockout artist in his mid-20s must, at the very least, move up to the junior middleweight division due to the damage making the 147-pound limit has done to his body. Whereas Vergil Ortiz Jr. clearly has some difficult decisions to make after suffering another health scare last week, Jaron Ennis is completely confident that he can remain a welterweight for the foreseeable future.
ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – The brutality Roiman Villa suffered Saturday night left the brave welterweight contender with a broken nose, but he didn’t sustain any other injuries during his 10th-round knockout loss to Jaron Ennis.

By Keith Idec - Jaron Ennis left little room for criticism in his second fight of 2023. The undefeated welterweight from Philadelphia broke down Roiman Villa and stopped the courageous contender in the 10th round of their 12-round fight for Ennis’ IBF interim welterweight title. Ennis’ vicious left-right combination dropped a battered, bloodied Villa and referee David Fields immediately waved an end to their “Showtime Championship Boxing” main event at Boardwalk Hall’s Adrian Phillips Theater.
Ennis vs. Villa will see undefeated rising star Jaron "Boots" Ennis defend his Interim IBF Welterweight Title against all-action contender Roiman Villa headlining action live on SHOWTIME on Saturday, July 8 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
The career of Roiman Villa was incredibly successful but one that flew under the radar. The Colombian wasn't wildly popular, not even in his native land. Still, his lack of notoriety didn't stop him from putting essentially everyone that he fought six feet under the canvas.
Jaron Ennis always felt as though he needed to violently take out his opponents in order to get to where he wanted to be. So far, he’s done exactly that but the rest of the welterweight division hasn’t been too gung-ho about facing him. But while most haven’t paid too much attention to him, Karen Chukhadzhian took notice of every unconscious skull that bounced off the canvas.
