Robert Guerrero: record, next fight and profile →
Former junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (31-0, 18KOs) is ready to return in the fall for the second fight of his welterweight run. Garcia made his welterweight debut last month, by stopping former two division beltholder Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Sorry fight fans, but there is such a thing as too much boxing—and we are in the midst of such a run. While some boxing junkies marvel at fight shows appearing on a slew of networks on a regular basis, the recent ratings trend suggests the offense is being spread way too thin. Case in point, the less than spectacular numbers produced over the past couple of weekends. A loaded Saturday night of fights was headed by the third installment of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) airing live in prime time on NBC. Shawn Porter scored a 12-round decision win over Adrien Broner in the evening’s main event, with the 2 ½ hour broadcast pulling in just under 2.4 million viewers on the evening. To the average boxing fan, it may appear to be a gaudy number. In reality, it pales in comparison to a favorable broadcast in that time slot. Live coverage of the U.S. Open on free-to-air Fox won the overall ratings battle on Saturday evening, although PBC on NBC ran neck-and-neck with the well-established golf tournament in the key demographic targeting viewers 18-49 years of age.
GILROY, CA -This past Saturday and Sunday hometown hero, Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero hosted the first inaugural fundraiser for the BFC (Breathe For Caley) Foundation at Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park in San Martin, CA. Known for being a community leader, Robert Guerrero donated 100K to the non-profit organization, helping the foundation, which grants chronically ill kids with a wish of their choice, to kick off their first event. Children of all ages attended the BFC event and their first recipient, 13-year old Maria Fajardo, who received a double lung transplant, was granted her wish to attend an Oakland Raiders game with her donor family. Together they will receive VIP tickets and field passes to a Raiders home game in 2015.

On paper he was expected to win easy, but instead he was forced to dig deep, and survive a fourth round knockdown, to win a ten round split decision over Aron Martinez. Some felt at ringside that Guerrero may have returned a bit too soon after suffering a bad decision loss at the hands of Keith Thurman in March.
