For the past few months, former friends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Adrien Broner (32-2, 24KOs) have been trading words in the media.

Last Friday in Washington, DC - Broner stopped Ashley Theophane in the ninth round. Theophane is promoted by Mayweather.

During his televised post-fight interview, Broner challenged Mayweather to a fight - in the ring or in the gym.

Mayweather (49-0, 26KOs) retired last September and has no immediate plans to return to the ring.

Veteran trainer Robert Garcia is very familiar with both fighters. He trained Marcos Maidana for his upset decision win over Broner in December of 2013. And he also trained Maidana for a pair of decision losses to Mayweather in 2014.

If Mayweather unretires to fight Broner, Garcia expects a dominating performance by the former pound-for-pound king.

"No [I don't think Broner gives Mayweather any trouble], I don't think so. I think Mayweather wins convincingly. I would watch it. It would be interesting," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.

In terms of the match coming off, Garcia doubts it ever happens. Garcia feels Broner is too small of a payday to lure Mayweather out of retirement.

"If [Manny] Pacquiao looks impressive and knocks Timothy Bradley out [on Saturday night], then he could probably get Mayweather out of retirement and make a couple of hundred million. Mayweather is not going to come back for 30 [million to fight Broner], but he'll come back for a couple of hundred million," Garcia explained.
