As fight night approaches, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao continues to train hard.

The WBA "regular" welterweight champion is scheduled to defend his title against four division world champion Adrien Broner on January 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao will be fighting in the United States for the first time since a dominating victory over Jessie Vargas to capture the WBO world title in the fall of 2016.

After beating Vargas, Pacquiao lost a disputed decision to Jeff Horn in Australia and then battered Lucas Matthysse to capture the WBA title in July of 2018.

Pacquiao's longtime trainer, who has been with the boxer for over 16 years, told Mav Gonazales of GMA News that Pacquiao is "hitting harder than ever" and that he is very happy the champion's performance during training camp.

At 40-years-old, Pacquiao's team is taking additional stapes to ensure the boxer is in top shape.

"At first I had cramps, but I've adjusted, I've been balancing my food and then watering my body," Pacquiao said.

Roach had issued warnings in the past that if he witnessed Pacquiao slowing down in the gym, he would advise him to retire from the sport to avoid the possibility of suffering a longterm injury in the ring.

Pacquiao said that he feels great about being back at the Wild Card gym and he is looking forward to returning to Las Vegas.

"It's our passion, it's what we want, and I'm still enjoying doing this and preparing for the fight. One week to go before the fight, I'm so excited to have a fight and bring honor to our country," he said.

Having turned 40 last December 17, the boxer said that he is still in excellent condition.

"There is no change, so is our speed, our moves (and) punching power are still there," Pacquiao said.
