Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach says WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) made a big mistake in selecting former three division king Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) as his next opponent. The HBO Pay-Per-View bout is scheduled is for June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Cotto is training under Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.
"I think Sergio picked the wrong opponent. I can not complain. I believe [Cotto] and Manny Pacquiao are the most disciplined fighters that exist today in boxing. I believe that I have been the 'Trainer of the Year" twice in a row because I have two talented guys. This fight will be difficult. The body shots that Miguel throws hurt. Miguel has an amazing left hook. I honestly do not know why he didn't use it against Austin Trout. He has the best left hook to the body and that will be the key to this type of fight," Roach told Carlos Narvaez.
