Freddie Roach, trainer of eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38KOs), would rather see his fighter take on Danny Garcia (31-0, 18KOs) instead of Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs).

Khan is looking to face Pacquiao in 2016, and there is some interest from the Filipino star's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank.

But Roach believes the fight might be boring - because Pacquiao and Khan have similar attributes and similarities in the way they fight. Roach used to train both fighters and had them spar each other, until Khan broke away in 2012 to hire Virgil Hunter.

Roach views Garcia as the more exciting fighter and believes his style will create fireworks when he steps in the ring with Pacquiao.

The main issue with making a fight with Garcia, and the same problem would be faced with Khan, is the involvement of manager/adviser Al Haymon. Top Rank and Haymon rarely, if ever, come together to stage fights. Back in May they came together to stage Mayweather-Pacquiao, but there was half a billion dollars in revenue involved.

"I like Danny Garcia, I think he's the more exciting fight. Amir Khan and [Pacquiao] have too much of a similar style where it might be a little bit boring - with two in and out boxers with good speed and so forth. I think Danny Garcia comes to fight, I think he looks for knockouts. I like his style and I think he and Pacquiao would be a great matchup," Roach told BoxingScene.com.
