According to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, there is no truth to the circulating rumors that he plans to assist UFC superstar Ronda Rousey with her next training camp.

The rumor first began last November following her knockout loss to former two-division boxing champion Holly Holm.

Since the start of the year, the rumor has resurfaced and Roach is once again being pressed with questions on the subject.

"A lot of rumors out there. People keep asking if I'm gonna train Ronda Rousey and so forth, but they are just rumors. There has been no official request," Roach told BoxingScene.com.

When reflecting on the fight, Roach says Rousey made a very big mistake by trying to box with the boxer. Holm was an top-tier fighter with a 33-2 record. She had her last pro boxing bout in May of 2013 before going full-time with MMA. Holm also has a kickboxing background, which she put on display by knocking Rousey out with a high kick to the head.

Roach says Rousey should have taken Holm to the ground and kept her there.

"I like Ronda Rousey. She's a nice girl and I wish the best for her, but I think that was a bad choice. She needs more experience in the boxing world. It was probably a mistake just to try that [box with Holm]. She should have just tried to go to the ground. That is my impression of what she should do. But again I'm not an MMA fighter but I know how to wrestle a little bit. That's a tough sport," Roach said.
