Older brother Ricky Hatton likes the sound of his brother, Matthew Hatton, taking on Junior Witter. Ricky and Witter were bitter career rivals but never faced each other in the ring. Recently Witter began issuing public challenges to Ricky's brother.
"Junior Witter seems to come along at the wrong times. He was shouting me out when I was on the verge of world titles and now Matthew’s on the verge of the same, he’s doing it again. Is it worth taking the risk? I don’t know. But it would be a good fight," Ricky told the Manchester Evening News.
Matthew defends his European welterweight crown on Friday against unbeaten Roberto Belge at Reebok Stadium in Bolton. Matthew is looking to capture a world title in 2011 - and Ricky, who won world titles in two weight divisions - believes he can do it.
"He’s up the world rankings now and knocking on the door of a title shot," said Ricky. "When you think he was struggling at the six-rounds level, now he’s European champion, looking for a world title, he’s come a long way. He’s fighting an unbeaten kid and he’s got to go out there and take that nought away from him. If he can do that, then who knows? It would be nice to see another Hatton with a world title."
