Raven Chapman: record, next fight and profile →
DENNIS MCCANN CAN show on Friday just why he has long been considered one of the most elite young talents in world boxing. Our super bantamweight prodigy takes a significant step up in class by taking on the redoubtable, rough and rugged Ionut Baluta for the WBO Intercontinental title. It really could prove to be a coming of age fight for the Haribo-munching 22-year-old.
THREE, WE ARE reliably informed by advertisers, is the magic number and we have got a very special treble of our own coming up across the next couple of months.
DENNIS MCCANN WILL bid to add the vacant WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight title to his growing collection of belts when he steps up to take on Ionut Baluta at York Hall on Friday August 18, live on TNT Sports.
IT IS DESTINATION, Telford, on Saturday when the International Centre will stage at least a couple of real humdinger fights to a backdrop of the best atmosphere in boxing.
NATHAN HEANEY WILL rematch Jack Flatley with the vacant WBA Continental middleweight title at stake and Andrew Cain will defend his WBC International Silver super bantamweight title against Ionut Baluta when Queensberry make a return to the Telford International Centre on Saturday March 25, live on BT Sport.
Savannah Marshall sent an emphatic reminder to her decade-long rival who was seated ringside. A superfight with Claressa Shields waited in the balance, with boxers afforded separate title defenses before their head-on collision. Shields held up her end, dominating unbeaten Ema Kozin over ten rounds to defend her lineal/WBC/WBA/IBF middleweight championship while running her record to 12-0 (2KOs).
Ekow Essuman won the Lonsdale Belt outright as he made a third successful defence of the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles with a unanimous decision over Samuel Antwi on the Joyce-Parker undercard in Manchester.
Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker will both enter the ring on Saturday at the heaviest weight of their respective careers. London’s Joyce tipped the scales at 271.6 pounds. He will outweigh his opponent by more than sixteen pounds, even as New Zealand’s Parker checked in at a career-high 255.4 pounds for their scheduled 12-round interim WBO heavyweight title fight Saturday evening at AO Arena in Manchester, England.
ANTHONY CACACE, EKOW Essuman, Nathan Heaney, Raven Chapman and Mark Heffron all feature in the supporting cast of the September 24 Joyce-Parker 'Nowhere to Run' blockbuster at the AO Arena, Manchester being shown exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office. Joyce vs Parker is promoted by Frank Warren for Queensberry Promotions in association with BOXXER.
Ionut Baluta seems to enjoy boxing at York Hall and recorded perhaps the best win of his career as he claimed a unanimous ten-round decision over Brad Foster to claim the WBC international super-bantamweight belt.
