Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing has announced the signing of Dominican super welterweight prospect Raul Garcia to a promotional contract.

An excellent puncher with fast hands, 24-year-old Garcia (12-0, 10 KOs) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, had over 150 amateur fights before turning professional in May 2021 and quickly rattling off a dozen impressive victories over domestic competition, including taking the undefeated 0 of countryman Francisco Ernesto Sanchez.

He was last seen in December 2022, stopping then 22-3 veteran Angel Yomar Mateo in six rounds. Garcia says he began to dream of becoming a world champion after meeting the great Oscar De La Hoya as a young amateur.

“I know that my career will take off with my promoter Sampson and manager Cesar “Manguita” Mercedes in charge of my direction,” said a happy Garcia. “I can’t wait to be in the kind of big fights I used to watch on television as a youngster. I believe I belong with the best in the division.”

Lewkowicz, who is known for discovering hidden talents, has teamed up with Mercedes to introduce several future Dominican world champions, including Javier Fortuna and Jeison Rosario, among others. A keen eye for talent, Lewkowicz says Garcia will quickly become another top fighter he and Manguita are credited for bringing to the world stage.

“I have been very impressed by Raul Garcia since his amateur career and have watched his development through every fight. Now it is time for the next level,” said Lewkowicz. “I’m happy to again be partnering with Cesar Mercedes to help lift up the Dominican Republic’s many great unknown fighters for years and Raul Garcia is the next top Dominican fighter on the way to the top.”

“Sampson is my long-time partner in bringing talented Dominican fighters to American television and they are going to love the exciting style of Raul Garcia,” added manager “Manguita” Mercedes. “He is training hard every day to become the next champion from the Dominican.”
