On the outside looking in, Rashidi Ellis seemingly checked all the boxes. Whether it was his blazing hand speed, one-punch knockout power, or sublime defensive movement, Ellis believed that his overall skills were more than enough to be mentioned with the rest of the welterweight division’s elite.

Nevertheless, as the sand in his hourglass slowly wasted away, Ellis found himself sitting sequestered on the sidelines. Now, however, having partnered with Premier Boxing Champions, Ellis is hopeful that his showdown against Roiman Villa on January 7th, will lead to more activity.

The up-and-coming rising contender from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after making it look relatively easy in the ring, has called for his chance at a world title. Although his demands won't be placated as of yet, he will be rewarded with the IBF interim title should he get past Karen Chukhadzhian.

With team Ennis constantly fussing that many of the welterweight division’s top contenders are refusing to face them, Ellis has brazenly stepped to the forefront.

“That’s a great fight,” said Ellis during an interview with YSM Sports Media. “That's a fight I want to see myself. If they paying, I’m playing.”

Despite entertaining the thought of facing Ennis, the 25-year-old could opt to bide his time on the shelf until he cashes in on a world title opportunity. Still, even with team Ennis remaining vocal that after January 7th, they should be next on the championship line, Ellis believes that if everything goes according to plan, Ennis could be the next opponent he looks to knock off.

“You never know, It could be next.”
