BoxingScene.com has been advised that Rico Ramos vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux will head to a purse bid. Ramos (20-0, 11 KOs) was scheduled to face Rigondeaux (8-0, 6 KOs) on the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito undercard on December 3rd in New York's Madison Square Garden. Rigondeaux is the mandatory challenger to Ramos' WBA super bantamweight title.

A purse bid had previously been ordered, but promoters Dan Goossen and Bob Arum of Top Rank reached a verbal agreement and the bid was called off.

"I had a handshake deal with Bob," said Goossen to BoxingScene.com. "I made the request yesterday [for the purse bid], and we are going to try to put that fight on one of our shows."

While Goossen refused to discuss the exact details on why the handshake deal fell through, BoxingScene was informed by sources with knowledge of the negotiations, that Ramos and his team were unhappy with the money being offered. Allegedly, a certain monetary figure was agreed upon between Goossen and Arum, but the final purse figure was less than what Ramos was expecting to receive.
