Jason Quigley (18-1, 14 KOs) is ready for his crossroads middleweight bout with the son of a legend, Shane Mosley Jr.

The fight takes place this Saturday night in Las Vegas, as part of the undercard to the lightweight title clash between Devin Haney and Jorge Linares. DAZN will stream the event.

“There's no excuses, I wasn't sick, I wasn't injured, I was beat fair and square on the night but – at the same time - that wasn't me,” says Quigley to Irish News.

“If I had gone in there and given it my all, my absolute very best and got beat I think I would have been more upset because where would I have to go from there? But I know that wasn't the best I could give and that's what gave me the confidence and desire to keep going. I know there is a lot more in me, there's a lot more in the tank and I believe that's starting to come out now.

“This is my second career now, a new version of me and I have to do it on the night. I need to keep climbing and keep improving and everything will fall into place then.”

Mosley Jr. has won four in a row since dropping a decision to top contender Brandon Adams in November 2018.

Quigley is now preparing with his new head trainer, former world champion Andy Lee.

He's not overlooking his upcoming bout, as a loss to Mosley could be devastating to his future as a top contender.

“Mosley is a good fighter, he comes from good genes. He has a lot about him, he's going to come very hungry, very determined and he's definitely going to come to win and that's what makes this fight so exciting for me. I know that I have a lad who is up for this – he's getting in there and we both know where this fight can lead for us and there's no question in my mind that I'm going to get in there, take care of business and move on from this," Quigley said.

“This is my second career now and it has kind of hit me that this is the stage I'm at. You get to this stage where fights are very important and this fight is very, very important for me now and my career. I know what it means to get in and win this fight and that's why I have left no stone unturned – I've done everything the best that I possibly could do and that's not going to change come fight night.”
