The highly-anticipated Queensberry-Matchroom 5 vs. 5 event will take place on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will serve as the undercard to the undisputed light heavyweight bout between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitrii Bivol.

The concept will see five fighters go against their cross-promotional rivals, which has been the desire of British fight fans for more than a decade.

Eddie Hearn of Matchroom and Frank Warren of Queensberry simultaneously published a YouTube video featuring themselves alongside the influential Turki Alalshikh.

The trio confirmed the weight classes in which the five fights will take place. A press conference will take place in London next month to confirm the match-ups.

Warren and Hearn selected two weight classes each and Alalshikh selected a fifth.

Each victory for either promoter will see them score a point in their favor, with each team nominating a team captain. If a team captain is successful in their respective contest, an extra point is awarded.

Warren started and selected the heavyweight division.

“The top weight is the heavyweight division,” Warren said. “We’re very strong in the heavyweight division. We have a great roster of heavyweight fighters and it will be one of ours.”

Hearn picked the featherweight division, and reckoned his roster has more strength in depth than Queensberry’s.

“We have a number of champions at featherweight and have done historically for the last few years,” said Hearn. “Like Frank, I feel that we’re very strong at 126lbs and I’m confident that will be one on the scoreboard for Matchroom.”

Warren then picked the middleweights.

“Traditionally, the British middleweight division is the division, so it’s going to be the middleweights,” Warren said, before Hearn called for a light heavyweight fight.

“Another fantastic division for British boxing, and we’re going to roll the dice with 175lbs, the light heavyweight division. I am hoping for a big domestic match-up,” said Hearn.

The final weight class was then selected by Alalshikh, who selected the heavyweights again.

“For me, No. 5, of course, is the heavyweights. They know I love the heavyweights,” said Alalshikh

Alalshikh also confirmed that each promoter can select a wildcard fighter who is not signed to either of the promotional companies.
