Ruslan Provodnikov gave the fans a showing and more when he gave it his all against Lucas Matthysse this past weekend. Provodnikov lost a close majority decision against Matthysse. Provodnikov and his team were open to a rematch even though it seemed like Mattthysse’s side was looking to move forward from this fight.

“I’m open to fight anybody as always, any money and any country especially if people want to see this fight again,” Provodnikov said to BoxingScene.com. “If the fans want the rematch, that’s what I want to give them. If there’s going to be a rematch discussed, send me a contract and we will do it again.”

Provodnikov left it all on the line. Even though he suffered a cut from an accidental clash of heads, Provodnikov was still game taking punishment and dishing punishment. There are no moral victories for Provodnikov

“I’m very disappointed in the loss,” said an upset Provodnikov. “I want to apologize to all my fans that did not come out victorious. I don’t think that I said anything in this fight that I didn’t do and that makes me feel better. I said I would come and fight and that’s what I did. But still I am disappointed.”

Provodnikov hurt Matthysse with a left hook in the 11th round and if there was a time for him to finish the fight, it was then. Matthysse did his best to recover and managed to survive the moment. Provodnikov felt sometimes things work out like that in boxing.

“I acknowledged what was going on and I know he was hurt,” Provodnikov said. “It happened the way it happened. Maybe I was unlucky and he was lucky but I couldn’t finish the fight. The fight went the way it is. I fought the way that I usually fight and hopefully everyone was excited and fulfilled.”
