Former world champion Ruslan Provodnikov believes WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) would demolish Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) if the two of them squared off in the ring.

Earlier this year the World Boxing Council ordered Canelo to defend his WBC belt against Golovkin in the fall. Last week, Canelo vacated the WBC belt and Golovkin was named champion by the sanctioning body.

The two sides continued to negotiate for a potential showdown later this year.

Provodnikov gives Canelo no chance to beat Golovkin. He says the Mexican superstar is not big enough or talented enough to win that fight.

The one opponent Provodnikov would like to see GGG face is former super middleweight king Andre Ward (29-0, 15KOs). In the past, there were some discussions for a Golovkin-Ward fight. With no agreement in sight, Ward moved up to light heavyweight and is scheduled to face unified champion Sergey Kovalev in the fall.

"There is no question for me, in this fight for me...Triple G would go through Canelo. Canelo is too small, not enough power and not enough skill to outbox Triple G. For me, Triple G is the favorite 100%," Provodnikov told BoxingScene.com.

"For me, a questionable fight [of who will win] is Triple G against Andre Ward, who is a bigger guy and has great boxing skills. That's the fight where you could ask - 'who is going to win?' But in the Canelo fight, there is no question Triple G will win."

As for Canelo, Provodnikov is more interested in watching him face former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux - who is actually rumored as a potential fall opponent for Canelo.

"In my opinion a more interesting fight to watch is Canelo against Lemieux. That's a fight where it would be more interesting than Triple G and Canelo, because Triple G is just going to beat Canelo," Provodnikov said.
