Brooklyn, New York - If Shawn Porter (26-1,1 16 KO's) had it his way, he would fight in September and return in December. If he had his way one of those fights would be against Danny Garcia, who made his welterweight debut last Saturday night with a TKO of Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center.

“We hear through the grapevine that I’m tailor-made for Danny Garcia,” Porter said this past Saturday at the Garcia-Malignaggi fight. “We are here tonight to scout him because there are words out of his mouth I want to answer.”

Porter also doesn’t buy that weight was a reason Garcia struggling in his past couple of fights.

“I’m not buying it,” Porter said. “But I understand people have to do things the right way. If he’s blaming it on the weight, I say he’s not doing it the right way. I’m a top guy at 147, so you can come see me.”

Victories over Adrien Broner and possibly Danny Garcia could lineup Porter for fighter of the year consideration but Porter isn’t thinking ahead just yet

“I take it one fight at a time,” said Porter. “I never really thought about it until my dad talked about it yesterday. It becomes a part of my heart. I was trying to figure out how we can fight in September and get back in December.”

In regards to getting back in the ring with Kell Brook, Porter says you have to ask the other side of the equations.

“We’ve moved on from that fight. I still personally want that fight but looking at this business realistically he’s (Kell Brook) over in England taking on English competition. He hasn’t mentioned my name. If I wake up if and my dad is knocking on my door, we’re going to England in a mouth and that’s what we’ll do.”
