In Wednesday’s episode of ProBox TV’s “Deep Waters,” the panel discussed the viability of an elite professional boxing league and the importance of testing for performance-enhancing drugs to ensure its success. Analyst Paulie Malignaggi said PED testing would need to begin at the grassroots level to be executed properly, and analyst Chris Algieri a successful program that led to a cleaner sport would limit the reigns of titleholders and create more turnover among champions.

I agree with Pauli’s here that testing would have to start at the grassroots level. It seems that it’s only the higher profile fights that get tested and highlighted in the media. That makes it easier for up and coming guys to get away with it imo

Whilst this is admirable idea some fighters aren't even getting paid what it costs to cover the price of a PED test let alone the multiple that would be required for this to be effective long term or worst still some are actually paying to fight.
If there is no "grassroots" boxing there is no boxing.
