Photos: Munguia Barely Escapes With Title in Hogan Fight

Dennis Hogan described his loss to Jaime Munguia as "bad for boxing" after the Mexican won a controversial majority decision victory in their WBO junior middleweight championship bout.

Munguia, who is expected to move up to middleweight and face the likes of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez or Gennady Golovkin, saw off the challenge of Hogan 114-114, 116-112, 115-113 on home soil at Arena Monterrey.

But the 22-year-old may consider himself fortunate, with many independent observers feeling Hogan was hard done by.

Mounting the fourth defence of his strap, Munguia (33-0) struggled to assert himself against Hogan's nimble footwork during the opening five rounds, before finally bringing his trademark body blows to bear against the 34-year-old Irishman.

Undeterred, Hogan held his own and returned fire, even threatening to knock Munguia down with an overhand right in the 11th, while the incumbent had the better of the final round without scoring a decisive blow.

"I knew I won the fight," Hogan (28-2-1) told DAZN.

"This is bad for boxing."

"Honestly, once the fight ended I thought it was going to end in a draw," Munguia said.

"I decided to come out in that last round and give it all to get the victory. But it was difficult."

Time to cash this fraud out. No wonder they have been avoiding all of the LIVE bodies in this division!!

Time to pause the hype train on Munguia. This dude is simply a weight bully at 154 but even that appears to be dissipating now. Good thing they didn't allow this guy to be fed to GGG.
this presupposes that mungia is good. he's not. therefore hogan beating him doesnt really mean anything.
I was going to mention that as a reason the decision will stand.
Munguia WON 7-5 STOP CRYING KIDS
With the help of a semi-gay Meixcan-American Promoter, the backing of an entire nation, and of a female Judge that must have thought he was cute.
Munguia got exposed
We've gotta stop saying stuff like this. Exposed doesn't apply to a guy as unskilled as Munguia. He has no defense whatsoever. He relies on his size and power. This has been known since day 1. Exposed…
