MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In a junior welterweight clash, Montana Love (17-0-1, 9 KOs), who missed weight by nearly four rounds, blew away Carlos Diaz (29-2, 14 KOs) in three rounds. (photos by Ed Mulholland)
The speed of Love was on full display in the first round, as he was landing accurate punches on the aggressive Diaz, who was coming forward and applying a lot of pressure, but not throwing enough punches.
In the second, a big counter left sent Diaz down. He seemed unsteady of his legs when he got up. Love landed a few more accurate shots to score a second knockdown. Love was taking his time with Diaz looking to weather the storm - but he was dropped for a third time against the ropes. Diaz made it to the end of the round.
Love continued to work over Diaz in the third, with the referee jumping in to stop the fight.
