Photos: Mayweather, Golovkin, Klitschko at WBC Convention

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ recently honored a few of the attendees at the 54th World Boxing Council Convention thanks to their record-breaking achievements in the sport of boxing.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator, Carlos Martinez, was on site to present boxing champion Floyd Mayweather with an astonishing three records for his stellar boxing career. His GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles, some of which are featured in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS 2017 Edition include Most bouts undefeated by a world champion boxer in a career (49), Highest career pay-per-view sales for a boxer ($1.3M), and Most expensive boxing championship belt ($1M) for his history-making win against Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

Other honorees include Alicia Ashley, who extended her amazing feat by adding another year to her record of the Oldest boxing world champion (female). Newcomer, Gennady Golovkin, became the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title holder for the Highest boxing knockout percentage by a middleweight champion (91.67%). Carlos also presented Ukrainian boxing star, Vitaly Klitschko, with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title certificate for Most wins in heavyweight boxing championship fights by brothers (40 combined), a record he shares with his brother Vladimir Klitschko.

wbc-convention (5)Aside from recognizing boxing stars within the ring, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS also recognized stars outside of the ropes. Panamanian presenter, Juan Carlos Tapia received the honor of having the Longest running sports TV program with the same presenter. “Lo Mejor del Boxeo,” the show he’s hosted since 1975 has been on the air for an impressive 41 years and 334 days.

When discussing the experience of honoring these boxing legends, Carlos Martinez mentioned that “the presence of Guinness World Records in the WBC annual convention is rapidly becoming one of the most important traditions in the GWR Calendar – it is the day when we celebrate boxing’s world record breaking moments that happened over the last year.”

The 54th World Boxing Council Convention is held at the Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, FL, and hosts boxing greats from all over the world including champions, promoters, judges and trainers, started on December 11 and will run through December 17, 2016.

Awesome event imho..........however, did anyone else catch the photo of Chocolatito? Dude looked like he weighed a 150lbs lol, and is it just me or does his face still look worn from the beating he received from Cuadras?
