Photos: Kudratillo Abdukakhorov Boxes Past Luis Collazo

Liacouras Center, Philadelphia - Rising welterweight contender Kudratillo Abdukakhorov (17-0, 9 KOs) won a ten round unanimous technical decision over former world champion Luis Collazo (39-8, 20 KOs). The scores were 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92. (photos by Mikey Williams).

Abdukakhorov came out in the first with a lot of accurate punches. There wasn't much coming back in return from Collazo. In the second, Collazo began to apply a lot more pressure and was coming forward to brawl with Abdukakhorov. Collazo was getting in his shots, but taking more in return. Collazo suffered a cut around the left eye from a clash of heads.

Collazo was back in with the pressure in the third and he was starting to get the better of the exchanges. The fourth was closer, but it was Collazo with the edge. Abdukakhorov took over in the fifth, with accurate punches that were landing as Collazo was walking in. And Abdukakhorov continued to outland Collazo in the sixth and seventh.

After the eight and ninth being controlled by Abdukakhorov, there was a severe clash of heads that badly cut Collazo above the right eye and even dropped him to his knees in the tenth round. Collazo was very hurt when he got up, the fight was stopped early by the doctor and it was sent to the scorecards.

Collazo should probably retire, but, on the other hand, why? He can still make some money fighting. And he badly hurt prime Thurman.
