Liacouras Center, Philadelphia - In a high stakes unification for the WBO, IBF, WBA world titles, Olympic gold medal winner Katie Taylor (13-0, 6 KOs) easily gained a new belt with a dominating victory over previously undefeated Rose Volante (14-1, 8 KOs), who was halted in the ninth. Volante came out firing in the first, and ended up getting caught with a hook and dropped. They began to trade punches with Taylor holding the edge.

The workrate of Volante slowed down by the fourth and Taylor took over the fight. Volante was bleeding on the upper side of her head from a clash of heads.

Taylor was giving Volante a beating to the head and body in the fifth round. It was more or less the same, including a ton of punishment during the eight.

The fight was finally waved off in the ninth, as Volante had taken enough punches and was bleeding from the nose from what appeared to be another clash of heads.
