The new World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Juan Francisco ¨Gallo¨ Estrada arrived at the Hermosillo International Airport from Los Angeles, California this morning and was greeted by a host of family, friends and media who were applauding him for the big win from this past Friday at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
¨Gallo¨ Estrada (39-3, 26 KOs) gave a great boxing performance despite the fact that in the second round he injured his right hand and defeated the dangerous Srisaket Sor Rungvisai via a 12 round unanimous decision in an exciting fight and snatched the green and gold world belt.
"I feel very proud and satisfied to have achieved another dream of having this beautiful belt, the most prestigious, the World Boxing Council, were many hours, days and years of sacrifice and it is proven that things can be achieved by committing and fighting for what you want," said 29-year-old Estrada.
Estrada will rest for a few weeks, treat his right hand injury and wait in the shortest possible amount of time to return to the ring to unify his title.
"Tomorrow, my doctor, Dr. Ricardo Monreal, will take care of me and give me an in-depth assessment. He tells me that it's nothing serious," explained Juan Francisco.
"I want to unify with the other champions, of course to give a rematch to Rungvisai because he deserves it, I expressed to my promoters Fernando Beltrán and Juan Hernández that those are the fights I want, because I want to be the best pound for pound," said Juan Francisco, who is trained by Alfredo Caballero.
He is expected to travel to his native Puerto Peñasco on Tuesday, where he will surely have another great reception.
